The Hampshire Advertiser reported on the recent Quarter Sessions that took place on 15th October 1839 in Winchester.
From the Calendar of Prisoners we discover a little more. James WATERS is at Winchester Gaol “the Bridewell” and has been there since the 31st August 1839. He has to do Hard Labour for his 3 month sentence. The crime of stealing wheat from Robert HOLDWAY we learn took place on the 25th August 1839.
